Bacillus amyloliquefaciens or BGP20 is an antimicrobial agent that is used to prolong the life of some vegetables. However, its effectiveness decreases when faced with the pathogen Ecc. A recent study has shown that the combination of BGP20 and natamycin is very positive, reducing the presence of Ecc by 92.1%. Moreover, natamycin encourages the dispersion of BGP20 and therefore lengthens the food’s shelf life.
